Preschool and school age kiddos can have any of the musculoskeletal or neurological issues of an adult, plus a host of developmental concerns that effect their schooling, sports, or social life.
Choice Physical Therapy has contracted with many schools over the years. If you represent a school, please contact us for details.
If you are a parent who wishes to have your child seen privately, in conjunction with a school, or in addition to a school, please contact us for an appointment.
Common conditions effecting school age children:
– Muscular Dystrophy

While children may be affected by any of the same issues that affect an adult, the treatment is not always the same. Children have different aspects of neuroplasticity, ongoing brain, muscle and bone development, and cognitive and psychological concerns to consider.
Physical therapy treatment may include:
- Pain management if indicated
- Specific stretching and range of motion activity
- Specific muscle strengthening activity through play
- Gentle soft tissue mobilization
- Low grade joint mobilization
- Other general manual therapies
- Positional advisement
- Parent/caregiver training as indicated
- Referral to other professionals if indicated
If your child has previously identified issues or developmental issue, we also happily work with such folks. We do have contracts with some Counties for preschool services and may be able to contract with others. Likewise, if you have been told your child would benefit from therapy, but there are no therapists available, please give us a call to see if we can help.
Reminder:
The longer you wait, the more a specific problem can progress, especially in children. Call us or book your appointment online today! The sooner the better. Remember, you do not need a referral from any other doctors, but we will always contact your child’s doctor with our findings. We want to be part of, not separate from, your medical team. It takes a village! Your insurance will still be accepted the same as at any other medical appointment.
