Myofascial Release (MFR) is a specific type of manual therapy that uses gentle techniques to improve tissue health throughout regions of the body. MFR is intended to effect the fascia, which is a continuous dynamic connective structure that runs through all of our body, supporting everything from organs and nerves to muscle and bone. The health of the fascia is imperative to any joint or system of joins functioning to full potential.

* Not all therapy clinics provide true MFR therapy, though some may believe they are providing a version of it

What can it treat?

  • Frozen shoulder (adhesive capsulitis0
  • Sciatica
  • Neck pain
  • Back Pain
  • Tendinitis and tendinosis
  • Acute and chronic pain
  • Recent injuries
  • Muscle spasm or tightness
  • Hip issues
  • Elbow issues
  • ITB Syndrome
  • And many more…

Clinical Effects:

MFR done properly relaxes the fascia, which in turn relaxes muscle, ligament, nerve, and circulatory structures. This will allow for increased range of motion, decreased pain, and better coordination. MFR is a great way to manage scar tissue and conditions that are very sensitive and not able to tolerate less gentle approaches (whiplash, bruising from impact accidents, etc).
