IASTM is a specific manual technique where the therapist uses additional tools to help effectively mobilize soft tissues. A technique many have heard of is the Graston Technique, but many variations exist. Tools may have rounded, blunt, or edged interfaces and may be used statically or dynamically, depending on the desired outcome.

What can it treat?

  • Tendinitis and tendinosis
  • Acute and chronic conditions
  • Muscle knotting and banding
  • Scar tissue management
  • ITB syndrome
  • Plantar fasciitis
  • Tennis elbow and golfer’s elbow
  • And many more…

Clinical Effects:

IASTM helps remodel scar tissue by breaking down and realigning collagen and other tissues. It can also help with tendon health by working out nodules of tension, spasticity, or cross fiber adhesion. Another benefit of IASTM is increased circulation to the area, which helps additionally with flexibility, healing and general health.
