Dr. Chelsea Welch is a Corning native with over 10 years of local clinical experience in Physical Therapy. She attended Ithaca College majoring in Physical Therapy/ Clinical Sciences with focus studies in nutrition and dance.
Following undergraduate study, she began graduate school at Ithaca College/ University of Rochester in Rochester, NY and graduated with a Master’s degree in Physical Therapy ( MSPT). She then returned to Rochester to complete her Doctor of Physical Therapy ( DPT) in the fall of 2010, graduating with highest honors. Dr. Welch has enjoyed practicing in many settings including hospital based acute care, neurological rehabilitation, and orthopedics. Her experience has prepared her to treat a broad spectrum of conditions including, but not limited to, sports/work related injuries, post-operative rehabilitation, arthritis, neurological pathology, spinal injuries, and chronic pain. Her special interests include the treatment of shoulder and scapular injuries, ankle and foot, running injuries and vertigo. She enjoys the challenge of diagnosing and managing thought-provoking conditions that have yet to be figured out, and regularly employs new approaches to complex patient care. She believes all patients deserve a “ team” approach therefore regularly consults with fellow PT's , local medical providers, including physicians, chiropractors, ENT’s, and podiatrists to provide the most comprehensive care and patient experience.
Dr. Welch instructs PT graduate students as a Clinical Instructor and values growing the field of Physical Therapy through the practice of evidence-based medicine. She prides herself in being a “forever student” and appreciates learning from every patient and student. In her pursuit of continued study, Dr. Welch obtained her Certification in Vestibular Rehabilitation Therapy ( cert. VRT) from Duke University. She is the regions sole PT to hold this specialized title which emphases the management and treatment of dizziness, vertigo, balance disorders and post concussive care. She is fast becoming known as your local “ Dizzy Doctor”.
When out of the office, she enjoys hiking, scuba diving, cooking, ballet, running, boating on Keuka and Seneca lake, and all things dog related. She is thrilled to be part of the Choice PT team and is loving practicing in her home town.
